That was the name of Chorus Festival. The purpose of it was to raise funds for homeless, addicted and to support the program of HIV prevention and care of HIV infected. It took place on March 21 in the historical center of St. Petersburg, in Peter and Paul Lutheran Cathedral. For the fourth time choruses of the Russian Northwest gathered to perform secular and spiritual hymns. However, for the Neva Church of Christ chorus, it was a new experience. The Russian Orthodox Church organized the Festival and it is very uncommon to receive an invitation to participate in such concert for Church of Christ chorus, or any non-Orthodox chorus. Perhaps our a-capella tradition, which is also common for Orthodox Church, was recognized and made it possible. Against the background of the Orthodox liturgical chants, our performance did not go unnoticed. After the festival, people came up and thanked us, asking about our tradition.
All funds that were raised during the Festival will be donated to maintain the project to help the homeless.
It is interesting that in addition to the diploma and an invitation to participate in the next festival, the chorus was invited to participate in the strictly Orthodox festival "Peter's Days", which will be held in St. Petersburg in July 2015. For many objective reasons we will not be able to participate in it, but the very fact of such invitation is outstanding, and we are glad that the Lord is so effective.
We pray that our God will direct the path of choral ministry. We ask you to support us with your prayers.
